Discover the CID of your Google My Business (GMB) listing in less than 3 minutes with this quick video tutorial.
Step By Step Guide for Google Maps
To find out your Google My Business (GMB) listing unique CID number, simply do this:
Step 1: Open Google Maps in your browser. This is much easier if you do it on a desktop computer or laptop.
Step 2: Type in your business name and select it when the autocomplete finds it.
Step 3: Now switch your browser to view the source code of the page.
You can do this by right-clicking any whitespace on the page and selecting ‘View Source’.
Step 4: Open up your find function (CTRL + F on Windows) and paste in this string: ludocid\\u003d
Step 5: Once you’ve found this string, there is going to be a set of numbers immediately followed by a double forward slash \\. This set of numbers is your CID.
Step 6: Test that your CID works by copying this template URL:
https://google.com/maps/?cid=000-Your-CID-000
Replace the 000-Your-CID-000 with the CID of your business listing.
Once you’ve added your CID to the URL, copy + paste it into your web browser and search.
If it worked correctly, it should bring up your GMB Listing in Google Maps.
What is this CID?
Google My Business (GMB) listings have a unique identification number or code known as the CID.
The CID is used by Google to aggregate information about a business across it’s GMB, Search and Google Maps products.
It’s one of the most commonly used identification numbers and is 100% unique to each GMB listing.
Why would I need the CID?
CID identification numbers are most commonly used in structured data or schema markup.
Making use of the CID proves to Google beyond all doubt that the web page it is currently crawling is the same entity as your Google Business Listing.
Use the CID in Schema Markup
You can do this by entering your CID within the “@id” property of your “LocalBusiness” structured data.
This can improve your local SEO by powering up the location signals sent to Google from both the pages on your website and from your GMB listing.
